- With over 30 years professional teaching experience I am able to offer an exemplary standard of tuition. I have a patient approach, and aim to make my lessons enjoyable whilst maintaining progress.
- I offer weekly or fortnightly lessons in a well equipped teaching room in Uley, Gloucs. I also offer Skype tuition and some home visits may be possible depending on location.
- I teach people of all ages and standards according to individual needs, so whether you want to do this for fun and learn to play your favourite songs, or whether you want to take your skills to professional standard, I can help you.
- Exam tuition is available - I’ve been entering students for the Rock School exams since 2002 without any failures. I teach using well structured lesson plans, breaking everything you’re learning down to basics. Over the years I’ve developed numerous teaching strategies, so if one approach isn’t working for a student we try another one.
- Lesson plans include learning to play a variety of rhythms in a variety of styles, playing along with songs, working on correct technique, rudiments and developing reading skills.
- About me: I’ve worked professionally as a drummer for over 30 years. In that time I’ve worked with many artists, particularly in the London area, as well as touring. In my work I’ve covered many styles of playing in great depth, including Rock, Jazz, Funk, Latin, African and Reggae. I’ve studied with some of the best teachers in the UK, including Bob Armstrong, Drumtech, Rick Finlay and Clifford Jarvis. I’m passionate about playing and teaching and love helping my students to develop as players.
I have an enhanced DBS certificate.
Testimonials:
Sam (13) and Emma (11) have been with Tim for nearly 3 years and are
gradually being transformed, from absolute beginners, into
accomplished musicians. Each of them is on their own journey of
musical discovery and I'm sure with Tim's passion and high standards
they will get the most out that journey. It's simply amazing what
they've already achieved. (Eric and Tina, Dursley)
Tim gives well organised, interesting and inspiring lessons with a
thorough teaching of techniques. He uses a variety of teaching
strategies and nothing is too much trouble. Tim is willing to be
flexible and help you work on pieces of your choice. (Jacky, Dursley)
I've been coming for lessons with Tim for 5 years. In that time I've
learned a colossal amount of techniques, rhythms, grades, improving
my timing, and things I did not even know existed. Look no further -
he is an excellent teacher and a really nice guy. Roll on another 5
years! (Ryan, Nailsworth)
